WHO CAN BENEFIT?
Anyone. If you own your own home, you can. The system takes up very little space – all you need is a power socket for ignition and some wood pellets and you’re good to go. The capabilities of the machine means that it can be scaled up or down, depending on the scale of he project or size of the property.
WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
Think of the CHP system as an extremely effective wood burning stove that’s so efficient it can power your whole home. Developed by Swedish sustainable energy pioneers Inresol, the V2-6 TRX has a Stirling engine that is 60% more efficient than gas and electric-powered systems. You fill the machine with wood pellets about once a month and the machine does the rest itself, burning the pellets in relation to demand.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
Purchase and installation of the system typically costs £12,000 + VAT. The final price can rise a little in the event of any modifications or special installation requirements. The pellets themselves cost approximately £100 per month (delivered) for a typical three-bedroom house.
